Here at Tester & Jones Funeral Services, we are proud to be marking our 20th anniversary of supporting families in Crowborough and its surrounding villages. Established in 2004 by Glenys Jones and Stephen Tester, who had worked together previously at another funeral director in the town, the firm is now run by Glenys, who is supported by a wonderful team of experienced, professional and caring staff members, all of whom are committed to serving our local families.
Our full-time funeral arrangers – including Branch Manager Sharon, Kim, Jo, Mandy and William – have a wealth of knowledge to help and guide families through every aspect of the funeral arrangements and, along with our dedicated pall bearers, ensure every aspect of the funeral service runs smoothly on the day. We understand that no two funerals are the same, because every family and their loved one is unique.
We are proud to have remained independent for the past two decades and, very soon after our launch, were accepted as a member of SAIF (The National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors). We are SAIF approved and abide by the organisation’s strict code of conduct. As an independent funeral director, we are able to give families the very best care and support, while having the flexibility to offer families the freedom to create a service which truly reflects their loved one.
“It was a really special time in the early days and it was so exciting when our phone started to ring,” remembers Glenys. “I am so very grateful to those families who supported Tester & Jones at the time and put their trust in us and, of course, to everyone who has done so since.”
One area which sets Tester & Jones apart from other funeral directors is the continued support we give families after a funeral has taken place – particularly our Bereavement Group (the BGs), which was launched 15 years ago and now has more than 100 members.
“We have an amazing group of people and it’s evolved so that existing members are fantastic at welcoming and supporting newer members,” Glenys explains. “Some lovely friendships have developed; they comfort each other and offer support at times when it’s needed.”
Twenty years after launching Tester & Jones, Glenys says: “I really care about the community here in Crowborough and its surrounding villages and want to continue supporting local people, offering traditional care and attention to our families. We are here 24/7 to answer your calls, whatever time of the day or night.”
