Stephen Tester is the new President of The Rotary Club of Crowborough
Stephen Tester has been named as the new President of The Rotary Club of Crowborough. Stephen, who runs the independent funeral director, Tester & Jones (with Glenys Jones) has been a member of Rotary in the town for a number of years and has held various roles in the past, including Fund Raising Chairman and Vice President.
Stephen’s Vice President for the year is David Peacock and Stephen takes over from Mike Hatchwell as President.
“It’s a great honour to be named President of The Rotary Club of Crowborough,” says Stephen. “I am proud to be representing Crowborough. It means a lot to me, as I was born and brought up in the town.”
He continues: “Mike was a great President and I am delighted that David has agreed to be Vice President for the year.”
One of Stephen’s goals for the year is to grow the membership of Rotary locally.
“Rotary is a fantastic organisation and we’d like to encourage more people – both male and female – to consider joining,” he explains.
Rotary is all about fellowship in service to one’s community. It was founded nearly 100 years ago as an organisation of professional and business people intent on helping people less fortunate than they. The Rotary Club of Crowborough was chartered nearly 60 years ago.
Throughout the year, The Rotary Club of Crowborough supports many events, both locally and in the wider community. As an organisation, Rotary is doing a great deal to eradicate polio. Having started its initiative in 1979, Rotary is 99% towards its goal to eradicate this crippling childhood disease.
