Tester & Jones named as Golden Charter's Funeral Planner of the Year for South East London and South East England
Tester & Jones has been named as Funeral Planner of the Year for South East London and South East England by Britain's leading funeral plan provider Golden Charter, for its dedication and commitment in providing an outstanding service to its local community.
Directors Stephen Tester and Glenys Jones received the award on behalf of the company from Michael Corish, Commercial Director at Golden Charter. In addition to the silver salver and framed certificate from Golden Charter, the Woodland Trust has dedicated woodland in Tester & Jones name at Marden Park, Woldingham, Surrey, in recognition of its achievement.
Tester & Jones was judged as a regional winner from over 2,800 funeral businesses which exclusively offer Golden Charter funeral plans, the largest funeral-planning network in the UK.
"We are absolutely delighted to receive this award," said Stephen Tester and Glenys Jones. "It recognises the hard work, dedication and professionalism of all our colleagues."
Ronnie Wayte, Managing Director of Golden Charter commented: "This is the 20th year of these awards, and each year it becomes more difficult to choose a winner as competition grows. Now independents hold the majority of the market share, this award ceremony truly highlights the best the profession has to offer. Through these awards Golden Charter celebrate personal excellence and professional commitment in one of the most difficult and challenging areas of serving the public."
He added: "Tester & Jones have set a very high standard and we are delighted to recognise this tremendous achievement."
Golden Charter funeral plans
Established in 1989, Golden Charter Ltd is the UK's leading funeral plan provider which is owned by an association of independent funeral directors. With over 2,880 independent funeral directors in the UK accepting our plans we are able to offer our plan holders an unrivalled opportunity to choose which funeral director will attend to their wishes.
Having seen plan sales grow by 30% in the last financial year and 20% growth the year before last, Golden Charter sold over 37,500 plans in the year 2012-13.
The principal business of the company is marketing and selling funeral plans, ensuring that all plans are fulfilled by independent funeral directors.
All proceeds of plan sales are either secured through an insurance policy or lodged with The Golden Charter Trust. This Trust is a completely separate entity from the company and will continue until all the plans are paid out.
Golden Charter offers a variety of plan types. Buyers are typically people over 55 years old, seeking financial security or who have a specific idea of what they want for their funeral, for example, coffin style and choice of music. Golden Charter also offer legal services specifically tailored to the mature market including Asset Protection, pre paid Probate, Will Writing and Power's of Attorney.
